Spring is (supposedly) coming - time to roll out the salads and cold desserts! I'd already done this one as a smaller card, but I think it will be MUCH easier to read at this new size.

All American Macaroni Salad

Having printed about 30 recipe cards, and finding the cutest little fake-antique box to keep them in, I've decided that they're too small - I'm finding it a real struggle to get all the information on such a small space. So I'm upgrading to A5 size, which feels massive after such a cramped canvas. This is my first one at this size, and I've decided to keep them in protective sheets, instead of laminating them, so I can add comments and changes if I want to.

Decided that tagging each image in my collection can wait a while - this is far more fun!

Lesson 6: Glass Brads

I totally cheated with this - it's the same script that I used for lesson 5, with a few layers removed and tweaked.

Lesson 5: Glass Brads

Lesson 5 depends entirely on using PSP and PSP-specific filters, so it took a bit of searching to find a GIMP tut that wasn't centred on making buttons for websites (have been feeling a bit under the weather and not in the mood to try and nut out an alternative on my own). And then I just so happened to be looking at scripts on DA and found one that did all the work for me:

It's based on a full-sized, step by step tut, but like I said, I'm feeling particularly lazy this weekend, and am happy enough to just have the result with minimum effort.

Scrap Class Lesson 4: Metal Element

Lesson 4 is to create a simple metallic element. It took me a while to figure out which filters I needed, but the result looks close enough to the original for me. I'd like to learn how to make more realistic elements, but for now I think this is a good start.

Scrap Class Lesson 3: Buckle

To make a buckle from scratch, based on a PSP tutorial. Using GIMP, I'm not sure I've got the right idea, as I used a different filter to what PSP has... but this is all right by me for now. Hopefully I'll improve with time, lol.

This is the same thing, with a ribbon added to see how it looks:

Scrap Class Lesson Two

I signed up a few weeks ago to a digital scrapping group on yahoo that teaches you ins and outs of effects and whatnot; this is my result for lesson two, which was about creating colour palettes from your image. I'm actually surprised by the broad spectrum of colours - and the fact that I zoomed right in for something and discovered a bee in the middle of the flower. Talk about good blending techniques!

Winter closes in...

Ok, so this photo was taken last winter, but it definitely captures the bitterness thats been sweeping over the country for a last few weeks:

First Post!

I pick up scrapping bits and bob from all over the place, but a lot of sites will only let you link credits to their own site and designer, so this is going to be a place where I can link all over the place and place credit where it's due.

At the moment, I've only done a handful of full page digiscrap pages, and have been totally sidetracked by the idea of scrapping (digitally, natch) recipe cards. I've done enough to warrant buying a cute little chest to keep them in, and have been printing and laminating them at work.

Because I haven't been posting them anywhere, I got really lazy with taking notes for crediting, so I probably won't post anything I've already done. And I've just reinstalled my image collection, to discover that I need to re-tag some 5000 photos and scrap elements, so I'm playing catchup with myself already.

At any rate, here's a recipe card that I made this afternoon:
